Throughout it all, the one thing the BEACH FREAK’N, DOG-LOVIN’ couple clung to was HOPE. Hope that their prayers would be answered and that the SUN WOULD RISE AGAIN, casting light & happiness back into their little piece of the world.

At the same time, 3,642 miles away in sunny, hot, Nicaragua, a poor country in Central America, a frail, hungry, homeless dog was also clinging to hope; HOPEFUL that eventually he too would have his prayers answered.

With HOPE, regardless of the circumstances, there will be POSITIVITY and an OPTIMISTIC perspective. When HOPE is gone, things tend to go from bad to worse, whether UR a person or a pup… NEVER LOSE HOPE!

Little did they know that one day soon, during the couple's September 2023 vacation, only 8 weeks before Chris would undergo a high-risk spinal surgery, their paths would cross, giving them the HOPE, STRENGTH, and INSPIRATION they would need to fight their upcoming battles.

THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY!

One day into their much needed vacation, the BEACH FREAKS were enjoying an early morning breakfast before hitting the SURF & SAND when a frail, hungry, homeless dog wandered up to their villa.

Kristen immediately began putting together a gourmet meal of seafood and leftover chicken for Bailey, the name Kristen assigned to him based on his caramel coloring. Bailey scarfed down the meal and slurped up the fresh water – just like that, he bounced back to life with enough STRENGTH & ENERGY to face whatever challenges that day would bring!

Reluctantly, the BEACH FREAKS said goodbye to Bailey and hit the beach strip, only to end up heartbroken after witnessing other homeless dogs walking the beach with matted hair, injuries, and sad eyes, HOPEFUL they would score a meal that day.

With Chris‘N’Kristen having so much love for their four-legged family members, Sadie, their Rottweiler, and Charlie, their Shih Tzu (AKA - Rott‘N’Shihtz), the mere thought of their beloved pups in a similar situation was too much to FREAK’N bear.

The following mornings throughout the rest of their vacation, their new friend, BEACH PUP Bailey, returned for Kristen's scrumptious offerings. BEACH PUP Bailey made a lasting impression; Chris’N’Kristen vowed that if they were ever in a position to help him and his fellow BEACH PUPS, they would!

Meant to be?... SOS Animales Nicaragua is a nonprofit organization in San Juan del Sur, founded in 2020 by Marlie Perkins and Delaney Wray Griffin; passionate and caring animal lovers, who couldn't watch the animals in their community suffer & starve anymore.

Both Chris’N’Kristen couldn't get over just how FREAK’ISHLY coincidental it was that the organization was founded by a dog lover whose first name just happens to also be Chris's last name!

Destiny aside, Chris‘N’Kristen shared the same perspective as Marlie & Delaney - and they wanted to do what they could to help.

SOS Animale’s mission is to ensure the health & happiness of all animals in the community.
Along with animal welfare education, SOS Animales also provides professional veterinary care to the local community in order to:

• Prevent the Spread of Viral Diseases
